Modern family law is concerned with many more aspects of family life than divorce and its unhappy consequences: it looks to prevent rather than cure, by such means as pre-marital agreements and trusts, cohabitation agreements, pension sharing and provision as well as wills and inheritance tax avoidance or reduction

These are all matters with which our family department, headed by His Honour Michael Cook, a former circuit judge and Designated Family Judge, in conjunction with our wills and tax departments, is well equipped to deal.

Our aim is to achieve an outcome that first and foremost protects your rights and expectations but is also fair and acceptable to both partners with as little stress as possible, so that both of you can move on with the rest of your lives.

If your relationship has broken down irretrievably, we believe that it is in your interests to resolve financial and property matters and arrangements for children as amicably and as economically as possible.

We subscribe to the Resolution Code of Practice for resolving family matters in a constructive way that is designed to preserve the dignity of you and your partner and, where possible, in a non-confrontational way.
