Jon joined our Bournemouth office in January 2005 having previously been called to the Bar in 2003. He has over 17 years experience of local authority matters. He is based in Oxfordshire and practices throughout the country.

His professional memberships include the Institute of Licensing, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health and the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Public Health and a member of Grays Inn. He was instrumental in setting up and operating initiatives such as the Southern Health and Safety Liaison group and was the Secretary of one of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health Centres. He has advised government on a variety of matters, including licensing and mobile home sites.

He lectures widely on licensing, providing training to licensing committees, officers of the licensing authority, the trade and to fellow professionals. After the implementation of the Licensing Act, he submitted what was probably the first appeal and has subsequently obtained one of the largest if not the largest premises licences in the country. In relation to outdoor events, he acts as solicitor to the Association of Festival Organisers and Folk Arts England.

Jon's main work areas include;
      • Preparing and submitting Licensing Act 2003 and Gambling Act 2005 applications, representing businesses and individuals on application or review hearings,
        Advising and training local authorities, practices and the trade on Licensing and Gambling matters
      • Jon also provides assistance and representation at hearings related to -
        Food Hygiene,
        Health and Safety,
        Fire Safety,
        Housing,
        Park Homes and Caravan Sites,
        Public Health,
        Environmental protection, including nuisance proceedings.
