Temporary Event Notices
Temporary Event Notices are intended to be a streamlined way that a premises can be licensing for various activities for a short period of time.
The rules are that for any particular premises, up to 12 notices can be given each year, up to a maximum of 15 days in total.
There are other restrictions in that each notice can cover a period of up to 96 hours and accommodate no more than 499 people. Unless you have a personal licence, then you can only give 5 of them in total every year.
Even with these restrictions, 'TENs' can be extremely useful for obtaining an extension to an existing licence or ensuring that small-scale events are licence. Often, with some thought, they can be used to license particular features of larger events and we have submitted in excess of 20 notices for some events in the past.
Care is needed when submitting TENs as copies have to be given to the Police and Licensing Authority 10 clear working days before the event (excluding the day that the notice is given and the day that the event starts).
