Theatrical Plays

pic

The Licensing Act requires that "Theatrical Performances" only take place if a Temporary Events Notice has been given or a Premises Licence obtained from the local council. There are very severe penalities for holding a play without an authorisation.

The term "Theatrical Performance" is in some ways a little misleading, as it covers everything from a performance of one of Shakepear's plays to a battle reinactment to a Punch and Judy show. Peculiar situations can arise where a 'tribute band' could be classed as both a musical performance and a theatrical one.

As a result, care is needed in completing the application so that there is no confusion over what is intended. We have considerable experience of both indoor and outdoor events involving plays of different styles and sizes.
