We are nationally recognised as one of the leading firms in licensing law. The Chambers Guide to the legal profession ranks us in the top teir in the south. We offer expertise in applications and advocacy for the whole leisure and hospitality sector throughout the country.

Our lawyers provide legal assistance to a wide range of clients, from national organisations to single-proprietor businesses and private individuals.  Examples include the Hall & Woodhouse Brewery, the National Trust, Corals, StanJames and Bowlplex. We have obtained what is probably the largest premises licence in the country and have submitted what may well be the largest number of Temporary Event Notices at any one time to ensure that a particular event was authorised.

Licensing SolicitorBecause we have a dedicated Licensing Department, we are able to deal with a full range of licensing legislation, from Alcohol Sales to Mobile Home Sites and Zoos. We even have people who can assist in somewhat obscure areas of licensing such as Houses in Multiple Occupation ("HMOs") and Dangerous Wild Animals.

Whilst the majority of our work is dealing with Licensing Act 2003 or Gambling Act 2005 Applications, Reviews, Temporary Event Notices and Appeals, members of our team often lecture around the country to fellow professionals, local authorities and the trade. As well as Licensing and Gambling law, topics have included the smoking ban, corporate manslaughter and the extension of the Noise Act to cover licensed premises. If you would like more details, please e-mail us. We can also assist with the drafting of contracts, agreements and licenses for the use of land.

Much of our work is undertaken on a fixed-fee basis although in some cases such as where the matter is highly contentious, we tend to work on an hourly rate that is agreed in advance. We offer a limited period of free initial advice which is extended for those clients that are on our Estate Management Plan. For other high volume work, discounted rates are available.

For details of clients that we have represented given advice, please see the entry on each Team Member's page. Discover why many businesses have chosen us as their specialist licensing solicitors.

Our expertise is also recognised by licensing authorities, some of who ask us to represent them, offer advice or training. Whatever your need, we have a licensing solicitor who can assist you.
